This course will guide students through the study of American History from ancient times through the Civil War. Readings will provide an overview of important events, key figures, and persisting themes throughout the early part of American history. Activities will help students become familiar with the most significant parts of the American story, consider historical causes and consequences, and to do the work of historians themselves by analyzing evidence, building interpretations, and constructing arguments.
