Unit 9 Assignment:

In this unit, you will start on your first original script. In the last unit you created a characterization of an individual you choose from a group of photos. In this unit, you will create a character. McKee teaches us that we need to see how an individual acts in times of stress to truly judge his or her true character.

Remember the situation in Carver's short story, "Popular Mechanics?" It was the day, the hour, the very moment of a break-up between two parents. Stressful situation?

I want you to put your people - the people you described to me in the last unit - into a stressful situation. Let's see them as they are called into the boss's office for messing up at work or just after they get into a car accident.

Some advice: Some of the most telling times in a person's life are just before or just after a huge event. How does your character act when he knows he is about to be fired, or when she just wrecked her car and it was totally her fault.

These should be 5 pages and written in perfect screenplay format.
